For just under twenty years, Michael Bowman has enjoyed leading national sales and marketing initiatives
via the media of print, digital, radio, television, talent relations, and events.
Beginning in 2001, he hosted numerous overseas orientation trips for World Vision Canada. Destinations
included Mozambique, Uganda, India, Haiti and several Latin American countries. Those receiving orientations
included Canadian broadcasters, performing artists and music industry personnel. These journeys contributed
significantly to the millions of dollars raised for the community development work of World Vision
through broadcast and event marketing.
Michael led World Vision's Artist Associates Program for eight years, building the program until it was
a top vehicle for attracting new monthly donors at one of the largest charities in Canada.
The team he assembled became the leading experts in World Vision's international partnership within the
realm of mainstream concerts and events.
SOCAN (the Society of Music Authors, Composers and Publishers of Canada) published an article about the
artist program as it became a respected partner within the Canadian music industry. Wrote SOCAN:
- "Canadian songwriters have an admirable track record in supporting charitable
groups, but few organizations have attracted as high a level of passionate
commitment as World Vision."
This innovative partnership model inspired dozens of acclaimed international and Canadian artists to
promote international development. Partners included Daniel Lanois, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Buddy Miller,
Sarah McLachlan, Libera, LIGHTS, Jann Arden, Tom Cochrane, and many independent artists.
In addition to working closely with performers on their own tours, Michael initiated tour dates with
multiple Grammy Award winners Soweto Gospel Choir and numerous other gospel tours, reaching as many as
15,000 audience members on a single tour.
Having developed relationships with artists, agents, record labels, promoters and artist management
internationally, Michael has combined this network with an expertise in arts marketing to become a highly
valued Canadian resource in achieving tangible results for artists, businesses, and not-for-profits.
